Formerly the Gresham Art Committee (GAC), then under the umbrella of the Center For The Arts Foundation as  Gresham Area League for the Arts - GALA, we are excited to announce that we are now a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization!

WHO WE ARE!

  • GALA is made up of artists and art enthusiasts.

  • GALA promotes artists and the visual arts in our community by sponsoring art exhibits at the Center for the Arts Foundation Little Theatre and other locations throughout the East Multnomah County, including the Troutdale Art Center. We are currently in the process of searching for a new home.

WHAT WE DO!

GALA  promotes and nurtures the visual arts by showcasing work from a host of diverse local artists. We are dedicated to:

  • Fostering an environment that inspires learning and appreciation for art, art history, craft, creativity, artistic philosophy, and imagination.

  • Supporting both emerging and established artists, as well as other arts organizations.

  • Raising awareness of the rich cultural tapestry of our community.

  • GALA endorses the goals of equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and the principles of equal opportunity for all who work and participate in arts & culture endeavors and condemns racism, prejudice, discrimination, and exclusion.
To these ends, we encourage opportunities in all disciplines and areas of arts and culture to include persons of every race, national origin, religion, color, culture, age, gender, physical disability, or sexual orientation.

  • Artists are invited to submit their works for consideration, and we select a diverse range of styles and mediums to showcase.

  • Our events are not only an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work, but also for the community to come together and celebrate the beauty and power of art.

Here’s what member Gail Johnson says, “I joined GALA hoping for a way to get involved with art and artists that didn’t necessarily involve painting.

I had good experiences with the old organization, Gresham Art Committee, and remember fondly the artist talks, the joy of having paintings accepted, the surprising enjoyment I got from the receptions. All those advantages are part of GALA.”
