Share Your Art at GALA's "Excellence in Art" Juried Show! GALA is thrilled to invite artists to submit their work for our juried show, "Excellence in Art." This is a wonderful chance to showcase your talent in a lively and diverse exhibition. Awards will be given and announced at the Artist ReceptionDon't miss this opportunity to participate and elevate your artistic journey!

We're excited to announce Associate Professor, John Hasegawa, as a juror for GALA’s 2025 Juried Show Excellence in Art. A Seattle native, John brings extensive experience and expertise to this role.

 

John leads the Ceramics department at Mt. Hood Community College, right here in Gresham, Oregon where he teaches all levels of ceramics. He holds a unique academic background with BAs in Philosophy, Mathematics, and Art from the University of Puget Sound, plus a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Oregon.

 

Throughout his impressive career, John has taught at various institutions nationwide, including Emporia State University, Worcester Craft Center, Armory Art Center, the University of Oregon, and the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. Before returning to Oregon, he taught Ceramics, 3-D design, and Digital Photography at the Paducah School of Art in Kentucky.


John's ceramic work has earned national recognition and numerous awards. His diverse teaching experience, deep understanding of art, and extensive exhibition history make him an incredibly insightful and valuable juror for our show. Artist Participation
Preference will be given to Greater Gresham Area artists, however, we may include the surrounding metro area depending on the number of submissions. Artist must reside within 30 miles of Gresham, Oregon for in-person delivery of accepted works to gallery space. Artwork is to remain in the art show venue for the duration of the exhibit. Content Restrictions exist for this gallery space.
