Show Description
Calm Within the Chaos presents an art display exploring the pursuit of tranquility in a turbulent world. This exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic interpretations, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between internal pressure and external peace.

 

Gala is looking for submissions across all media painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, digital art, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, glass, and 3-D works. Let your artistry, inventiveness, and creativity flow. Submit your unique take on Calm Within the Chaos that will evoke an emotion within us. This is your chance to captivate an audience, provoke conversation, and showcase your art in a dynamic and diverse exhibition.

Artist Participation
Preference will be given to the Greater Gresham Area artists, but we may include the surrounding metro area depending on the number of submissions. Artwork is to remain in the art show venue for the duration of the exhibit.

Submission Information
Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your work:
● Number of Submissions: Artists may enter up to three (3) pieces per show.
● Submission Fee: a $30.00 submission fee allows for the entry of up to three original artworks.
● How to Submit: Please submit your work via our website: https://galaarts.org.
● Commission: GALA retains a 20% commission on all sales.

Important Notes on Images to be Submitted
● The curator must receive a professional digital image in JPEG format by the online gallery deadline.
● Files must be JPEG from 800 to 1200 pixels with medium compression.
● Submissions with poor quality or too small art images will be returned and not considered.
● Artist must initial the Submission Form providing permission to use digital images of accepted images.
● Labeling instructions – Artist First Name Artist Last Name. Name of Work
Example: “Mary Smith Tropical” “Mary Smith Old Boats”. Images that are not labeled correctly may be returned and not considered.

 

General Guidelines for Exhibits
● The curator team will review and select pieces for themed shows based on artistic merit and fit with the specific show theme, while balancing the number of different media for the overall show.
● The gallery is located in a family friendly, public workplace which includes schools and public safety offices, and is not exclusively used as a gallery. Sensitivity to public use in this venue is appreciated.
● GALA is not obligated to accept or exhibit submitted work.

Very important, please review - Specifications for Submitted Art
● All work must be an original composition. No work will be accepted that is copied from or based on copyrighted or published materials, greenware, kits, or any other prepared materials. Artists may be required to validate the originality of their work.
● No individual item of work previously shown in this gallery will be accepted for a new show.
● Prints of original artwork, including photos, must be signed and numbered as part of a limited edition. Photography and prints must meet accepted archival standards.

● Readily reproducible works such as computer-generated art, computer-altered or enhanced photographs, and Giclee® prints must be identified and clearly labeled as such before acceptance and during the show. Archival material is required.
● All two-dimensional work must be ready to hang with multi-stranded picture wire with sufficient strength to support the art. No saw-toothed hangers or clip-on frames will be accepted. D-rings and wire are preferred. 
● All matted artwork must meet professional standards.
● Artists are responsible for providing and/or ensuring all sculptures, 3D, glass, and freestanding work be displayed in a stable and safe manner.
● Hanging metalworks, fabric constructions, glass, and other suspended objects must be designed to use gallery wall hooks, similar to the method used for paintings.
● All canvas pieces shall be framed or have finished edges, which means they must be painted or otherwise worked upon. Blank edges are not “finished”. 
● GALA is not obligated to accept or exhibit submitted work, particularly work that is not ready to hang upon arrival at the gallery.
